My daughter LOVES to pitch. Seriously, she pitches every damn place...down the hall...shopping...going for a walk....camping....EVERYWHERE.
While I don't think she's perfect, I do think she's pretty damn good at it. Part of it is her size, she's 11-years-old and 5'6" tall with long arms and long legs. To simply put it, she's built.
This past year she made her first travel softball team and made some great friends. The problem was that she was the youngest so basically kept in reserve and was a sub almost every game. In the beginning of the season I understood it but towards the end of the season it became very evident that the other girls weren't all star players so why wasn't she even given a chance to play somewhere else besides outfield? (She was literally outfield or pitcher, no in between) And no, before someone thinks I'm one of THOSE parents...lol...I have never once said anything to the coaches, I just let them coach.
My husband thinks they had her on the team to be sure this year they would have her as a pitcher. Thing is, who says she wants to be on their team after being a sub all the time? She's going to 2 different tryouts this summer. My husband thinks since the current team taught her so much she should stay (if she makes the team) but I feel like she should start fresh so she's not labeled as "the sub".
What do you think?
